Cracking Open Wally Wood’s Artist’s Edition from IDW

I just picked up my copy of Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition from my local comic shop and I am utterly blown away.

This is the latest installment in IDW’s critically acclaimed Artist’s Edition series.  Lately, comics fans have been treated to a slew of quality books featuring classic reprints, e.g. Fantagraphics’ Complete Peanuts , Sunday Press’ Little Nemo in Slumberland: So Many Splendid Sundays , etc.  IDW’s Artist’s Editions have taken this genre of books to a whole new level!  Each page of original art is painstakingly scanned and printed at the artwork’s original size and all pencil marks/production notes/finger smudges are left intact.  This book is a beast at a whopping 15”x22” hardcover!

This tome focuses on Wally Wood’s EC days(early 1950s), which many consider his greatest work.  He would go onto draw for Will Eisner’s Spirit strip, Mad magazine and Marvel’s Daredevil in the 1960s.  Sadly, Wally Wood took his own life in 1981 after suffering from declining health for many years.

Here’s a peek at what the book has in store for you if you’re lucky enough to find a copy!

  2. Do people that buy it going to keep the shipping box to store the book in or do you somehow find a place for it on a shelf?
