Comics Spotlight: Mind MGMT
If you’re looking for something new and different to read this summer, you should try picking up artist/writer Matt Kindt’s new monthly comic book series, Mind MGMT. The first issue takes the reader on a strange, psychological suspense thrill ride. Here’s the official publisher’s description of the first issue:
Reporting on a commercial flight where everyone aboard lost their memories, a young journalist stumbles onto a much bigger story, the top-secret Mind Management program. Her ensuing journey involves weaponized psychics, hypnotic advertising, talking dolphins, and seemingly immortal pursuers, as she attempts to find the flight’s missing passenger, the man who was Mind MGMT’s greatest success—and its most devastating failure. But in a world where people can rewrite reality itself, can she trust anything she sees?
Matt Kindt has been working in the “indy” comics scene for years now. He’s had critical success with his previous graphic novels, Super Spy and 3 Story. His talent has been noticed by DC Comics, who recently hired him to take over the writing duties on one of their “New 52” titles, Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. Dark Horse Publishing offers some free digital prequel stories for the series if folks would like to try out Mr. Kindt’s work for free. What people will find is fully painted, cinematically rendered stories that fit in somewhere between the fine arts world and your local comics shop.
Mind MGMT #1 and #2 are currently available at finer comics shops all over the world.
